We provide a safe and fun experience to people to who want to get close and personal with the Dorset sea cliffs. Our aim is to provide 2 products – Climbing and Coasteering so that our clients gain a truly amazing day out by the sea. We are now offering more of a mountain experience in North Wales (summer) and Scotland (winter only).

About Eddy Young - Owner of Young's Adventure Solutions

Eddy has a massive passion for the outdoors! Surfing, climbing, mountaineering, skydiving, running and biking: he loves them all. Eddy started climbing at the age of 10 years old! Since then Eddy has climbed in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Norway, Thailand, China, Vietnam, not forgetting the UK.

Eddy YoungHis hardest rock route was in Thailand back in 2009 and hardest ice route was in Rockies, Canada in 2008. In 2006 he passed The Mountain Instructor Award (climbing technical expert) and as a result he gained a massive amount of climbing experience in the UK Mountains and sea cliff.

Recently (2012) he has gained the ERCA trainer award which means he can run ERCA awards through an ERCA training body. Since the start of 2013 Eddy has begun working for Climbing Wall Services – one of the biggest UK providers of site specific instructor awards.

Eddy started working in the outdoor industry in 1998 after a 2 year intense instructor training course with Bicton Outdoor College where he was best practical student. After 10 years of working in the outdoor industry for an array of outdoor centres and corporate clients he has gained a huge collection of qualifications from the mountains to the sea and in the sky – Mountain Instructor, Beach Life Guard, SLSGB Coasteering Safety Award, BCU 4 Star Kayak Test and ‘B’ licence for skydiving, to name but a few.

In his spare time Eddy can be found hanging off a cliff, surfing at Bournemouth or drinking coffee planning his next adventure.

Our Instructors and Staff

Nicky

Nicky

deals with the day-to-day administration for the business and is always on hand to answer any queries. She has access to the team’s diaries and will be happy to make provisional bookings and help wherever possible. She will most likely be your first point of call when you contact us.

Rob

Rob

has worked in the outdoor industry for over 25 years, predominately as a climbing instructor and coach. Few know the cliffs and history of Dorset climbing better than Rob. His climbing career has spanned alpine ascents, trans-continental road-trips and multi-day ascents. Rob has been a leading activist in the local Dorset climbing scene for many years, with a list of prominent hard routes to his name. Rob also contributes to the running of the Dorset Bolt Fund.

Matt

Matt

passed his MIA back in 1993 whilst studying for a BSc (Hons) in Outdoor Education, which he completed in 1996 with 1st Class Honours. Since then Matt has built up twenty years of climbing experience including hard routes in the Alps and Dolomites, both sport and trad climbing in France, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Australia, and the USA. He has now settled in Southampton, where he continues his climbing experiences.

Martyn

Martyn

has developed a wealth of experience guiding young people to achieve their goals. He has built an impressive collection of awards and qualifications allowing him to coach young people in a great variety of outdoor activities; climbing, bushcraft, coasteering, canoeing, archery and ropes course, to name a few. In his spare time Martyn will be found surfing the golden coast in Devon, hanging off a cliff in Swanage, flying kites on the beach or wild camping in Scotland. Whether it’s climbing, walking, coasteering, or surfing he will be making the most of the beautiful British weather!

Barry

Barry

has been involved in the water and adventures industry for many years. After completing his Kite Surf Instructor qualification, he spent several years perfecting his skills before gaining more qualifications in water rescue and the high ropes industries. Barry now heads up water safety for Zap Cats International and assisting with coasteering for Dorset Adventures. He also helps to run high rope course session in the local area. Barry has a passion for all outdoor sports and can be often found in the water busting out bug air moves kite surfing. In the winter he can be found in the depths of the snow playing on his board!

Ryan

Ryan

is an outdoor education instructor at a local college and has a growing list of qualifications including BA hons in outdoor education, SPA and BCU level 2 coach among others. He can be frequently seen along the Dorset coast, both in and around the water, and really enjoys jumping off the Dorset Jurassic cliffs into beautiful clear blue waters of the south coast. Ryan brings great humour to his sessions at the same time ensuring maximum safety. One of Ryan’s new found interests is Outdoor pursuits photography so don’t be surprised if he is the one shoving a camera in your face whilst you jump into the water or abseil down the vertical cliffs. Ryan has loads of enthusiasm during all of his sessions so be ready for a fun filled day full of excitement.

Matt

Matt

has been involved in the water sports industry for 14years. He has a BSc in Water Sport Science and an MSc in Sport and Performance. He has trained many athletes involved in surfing and triathlon. Matt is currently part of Surf Lifesaving’s Surf Lifesaving Commission and looks after all Lifeguard and water safety training requirements in the Wessex Region. Matt is a ken surfer and triathlete and can often be seen at Boscombe training lifeguards or surfing. He has been a Coasteering instructor and Coasteering safety award trainer for many years and still loves it.
