Introduction to Navigation

£65 Per Person Per Day

NavigationThis Mountain Navigation & Hill Skills Course is ideal for anyone who wants to be self sufficient in the mountains of the UK. It is based in Snowdonia, North Wales.
Duration – 2 days
Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:6.

Topics that maybe covered

  • Two full days of practical navigation in the mountains of Snowdonia
  • Introduction to different map scales
  • How to set the map
  • How to interpret contours
  • How to interpret key symbols ie how to find a footpath, fence, stream etc
  • How to plan and follow a route using paths and other key features

Hill Walking

Snowdonia Hill WalkingThis Hill Walking Course is ideal for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of the mountains in the UK and is based in Snowdonia, North Wales. The course may take in a few of the Welsh summits depending on weather.
Duration – 2 days
Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:6.

Mountain ScramblingThis Mountain Scrambling Course is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain more confidence on steeper terrain in Snowdonia, North Wales. You would have ideally have previous walking experience.

Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:4.

Advanced Mountain ScramblingThe Scrambling to the next level Course is ideal for anyone who wants to gain more confidence on Scrambling grades 2 and 3 and is bored of walking and easy scrambles in the UK. You would have ideally have had Scrambling experience in the UK.
Duration – 2 days
Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:2.

Winter Skills

Winter SkillsOur Winter Skills course is based in the Glen Coe and Ben Nevis area: An ideal course for people who have done some hill walking and who want to learn the essential skills needed to enjoy winter walking. A number of classic Munros may be climbed during the course (depending on weather conditions). Good level of hill walking fitness required.
Duration – 2 days
Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:2.

Winter Walking

Winter Walking

Our Winter Walking course based in Scotland is a continuation of the Winter Skills course (above). Aimed at those who have already gained the essential skills and simply want to enjoy walking in the winter hills and be self sufficient. Under our expert guidance you will consolidate your experience without the need to move onto steeper climbing terrain. Previous experience: Good level of fitness and confident in the use of axe and crampons. We operate the course in the Glen Coe and Ben Nevis area of Scotland.

Please note: you should already have previous summer walking and/or scrambling experience, you will need your own crampons, boots and walking axe plus the relevant clothing for winter conditions. We can help you source these items.

Duration – 2 days
Minimum group size is 2 participants. Max Ratio: 1:2.
